Aggregate-Crack Repair and Seal in Williamsburg

What is exposed aggregate?

Exposed aggregate is a type of concrete finish commonly used for driveways, walkways and patios. The surface can get dirty fairly easily because of the nooks and crannies in between the stones. The gravel in the concrete mix is partially exposed in the finished surface making them highly susceptible to deterioration. When weathering happens small stones and pebbles dislodge from the underlying concrete foundation. Cleaning it periodically and keeping it sealed as needed are key components of any good maintenance program.

Benefits of Sealing:

• Improves appearance

• Protect against stains

• Blocks UV rays that cause fading

• Reduce mold/mildew infiltration

• Increase longevity of surface

• Makes it easier for cleaning and maintenance

• Keeps stones from abrading

• Minimizes damage from water intrusion and freeze-thaw damage

Ready Seal Wood Stain

Ready Seal is an oil based and professional grade wood stain and sealer in one.

If your looking for a fencing product with a natural look, wood is an appropriate selection. This fence was built using southern yellow pine. In order to prepare the fencing for stain/sealing, we washed with heated water and a mixture of sodium hydroxide and a mild surfactant. This preparation removes all organic and atmospheric pollutants. The final preparation was to neutralize the surface using a wood brightener. We waited two days and then checked with our electric moisture reader to make sure the moisture content was <12% . Once we verified a low moisture content we proceeded with the application of Ready Seal.

The stain deeply penetrates the wood to protect it against natural elements like the suns UV rays, water intrusion, mold and mildew.

This sealer can be used on any wood exterior surface including furniture. Unlike conventional stains/sealants this product contains no acrylic; therefore, it will never crack, chip, flake or peel. The life expectancy of this product is 1-3 years on horizontal surfaces, and 3-5 years on vertical surfaces.

Deck Staining- Residential Wood Deck

Deck staining anyone?

When it comes to deck staining you have many color options. A clear finish allows the wood to weather gray naturally. A semi-transparent finish has subtle color that allows the wood grain and texture to show. A semi-solid finish has the same rich color as a semi-transparent but it hides some of the wood grain while allowing the texture to show through. A solid finish is a rich and opaque color that allows the texture of the wood to show through only. This customer made a wonderful choice and selected a solid stain called Pewter. Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions about power washing

Do I have to be home?

No. You are more than welcome to watch while we work but it's not necessary. If you are having your cedar shake roof repaired or washed we do ask the owner to be home to check for leaks during wash.

Will it affect my plants/grass?

Usually no. However, under extreme conditions (100 degrees), plants can experience trauma. To prevent any chemical damage to plants we apply water before, during and after the wash.

Can my animals be outside?

We ask that you leave your pets inside during the wash so they don't interfere with the workers routine. Opening/leaving gates open, using ladders and pulling hoses can be a hazard to both the workers and your pets. Your animals can come out right after we are finished. For decks and aggregate sealing you need to wait 48 hours before you or your pets walk on it.

What can I do to prepare for a wash?

Make sure all water sources are on. Make sure all windows and doors are shut and locked. Securing windows and doors in this fashion will eliminate water intrusion. Please inform our wash techs of any windows or doors known to leak so we can avoid them. If you have slider screens, slide them up about 3 inches to allow any debris to flow out. All fabrics should be removed and stowed inside. Remove fragile decorations, potted plants, and other small items from washing area. If you have heavy or larger items we will remove them. Unlock gates or any entrances that might prevent access to the property.

What can I do to prepare for a deck or aggregate driveway seal?

If we are cleaning/sealing your driveway please remove cars from driveway (and garage if needed). Understand that cure and seal has strong fumes and it is best to keep garage doors and other possible openings closed. Make sure all sprinkler/irrigation systems are turned off so your deck or driveway doesn't get wet after a seal. Unlock gates or any entrances that might prevent access to the property. Refrain from walking/driving on the sealed surface for 24-48 hours.

How often should I have my house professionally washed?

An annual wash is ideal. An annual wash requires less concentrated solution which creates less impact on your siding.
